Candid street photography documents split-second moments in cities that are otherwise, like a fleeting dream, quickly forgotten. The faces of passersby live forever in a portrait, but what their eyes have seen and the stories they can tell you are only immortalized in imagination.
Particularly, seniors and those visibly mature have always drawn my interest. Their likenesses may leave the earth in the shortest succession, and documenting their presence in routine and candor feels like an obligation of a street photographer to make them live forever.
These portraits and candid moments were documented while in Australian residency through October and December 2023 in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, Australia.
If you connect with this work and want to document people in your own community, I invite you to read my article on how to overcome the awkwardness of street photography.
