Every door tells a story. How many people have passed through that door, what mood were they in, and where were they going or coming from.
My photography teacher in high school shared how he focused on doors while traveling. This fascination inspired me and became a focus I sought to emulate in my travel photography.
Doors are products of the culture they’re surrounded by: the patina of its disrepair, its polished and manicured appearance, or the juxtaposition of its environment tells you about the people and stories behind them.
This street photography collection was captured in Montréal and Québec City, Québec in late 2022. As two of the oldest cities in Canada, the times, civilization, wars, and occupants these doors (or their replacements) have witnessed make them each a relic and time capsule of memories.
